It is getting tougher and tougher each day. How much more can either party take? Whether it be fighting, ignoring or just being indifferent, the marriage has dissolved itself and now is the time to do it legally. Getting a divorce isn’t in anyone’s ideal plan, but in some cases, it has to happen. However, a divorce isn’t as easy as 1-2-3.

Lawyers and courts are very detailed oriented. You will be asked many questions over and over but in different ways. You will feel like it will never end; however, there are things you can confidently go in knowing and being prepared with in such meetings.

Prior to officially filing for divorce, your lawyer will need information to make sure all paperwork can be done properly. Simple information such as both spouses’ names, birth dates and social security numbers are an obvious; but, then there is information on children. Names, birth dates and other information about children you have together and from previous relationships will be needed. In order to make sure the courts have all of the required information to make a wise decision it is important to gather that up.

Courts will need to know the date and place of where you were married and how long now the two of you lived in the current state. Digging deeper, if there were divorces in your past, they want to know about it as well. Just giving your reasons for the separation and grounds for divorce is not all there is to it.

Lastly, to figure out financial issues and how to handle payments if need be, courts need to have records of employment. Both spouses must include their occupation, where they work and the address of their employer. Each spouses’ education and degrees also plays a part in their finances.

Getting a divorce is time consuming and detailed. Contact a DuPage lawyer to help you guide through this process. An experienced divorce attorney makes a world of difference when it comes to making sure you are well taken care of.
