Child Custody

Illinois Child Custody Attorneys Serving Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane and Will Counties

Few issues are more hotly contested in family courts than issues of child custody. Child custody disputes are often highly emotional and combative. Whether you are involved in a divorce or paternity case, it’s important to hire an attorney who will fight to protect your interests and the interests of your children. At the Mevorah Law Offices, we understand the complex issues that surround child custody. Our attorneys are experienced litigators and negotiators who aggressively advocate for the rights of our clients.

Child Custody Cases in Illinois

In any child custody case, protecting the best interests of the children involved is always paramount. To that end, there are a variety of custody arrangements that can be considered including sole custody, joint legal custody, shared residential custody and residential custody. Child custody cases often require input from health professionals and experts. At the Mevorah Law Offices, we are dedicated to helping our clients resolve child custody issues fairly and with minimal emotional distress for the family. We represent both mothers and fathers and offer passionate and compassionate legal counsel.

Child Custody Modifications

As a child grows older or as other circumstances change, it may be in the best interests of the child to change the custody arrangement.  For example, custody arrangements may be altered if the custodial parent is now posing a harm to the child’s mental or physical well-being.  Other changes such as job transfers, an older child wishing to live with the other parent, or other changes may also warrant a change in custody.

Removal of a child from the state (when one the custodial parent wishes to move from the State of Illinois)  This type of change can be extremely complicated requiring an experienced counsel at your side.  Our firm is experienced in handling these types of post decree modifications as well as those involving child support and visitation.

'In regard to my family law matter. I was very pleased with the job you did. Especially with keeping me in the loop; letting me know what is or was happening. Your hard effort to have things done and accomplished in a timely manner. Which proved to be the biggest challenge due to the delay from opposing council and his client’s refusal to cooperate. For that I commend you. Also for you returning my calls in a timely manor and really willing to work with me. Whether it was working out an affordable payment plan or setting up a meeting to go over battle plans […]. I am happy that you were able to get this matter taken care of for the time being. If needed I would not be reluctant to call on your services again.'

'First of all, I would like to thank God for all the things he’s done for me in the past. Secondly, I thank Steven H. Mevorah & Associates for helping me dissolve the case of my divorce. It was hard on my part, though my ex-husband gave me such a hard time to finalize the whole thing. And third, I would like to thank [my attorney] for the things he did for my husband; that he came here to the USA, because of his help & support. I wish [to thank] all the staff of Steven H. Mevorah & Associates for the excellent job they do for us and others. More power and God bless you all always. It was my pleasure and honor to recommend your company […] to any of my friends, family and coworkers…this is the best law office I’ve ever had that is fantastic and lovely…I mean it. I will never forget all the hard work you did for us. Again a million thanks.'

'My divorce itself was handled in Virginia, but during my very messy post-divorce proceedings in Illinois, my attorney was a rock star! He wisely walked me through various minefields, stayed cool, and helped me to keep my cool. I came out way ahead of where I thought I would on financial support, and my ex and I now even have a cordial relationship. Also so important, [my attorney] was very responsible when it came to billing. And I've had enough experience with attorneys to know what that does, and doesn't look like. I definitely got my money's worth with Steven Mevorah & Associates.'
- B. H.

'[My attorney] took care of my Divorce. He was very helpful and always took my calls and answered all my questions. He kept me informed of what steps were next and everything went well. I felt in control with [my attorney] on my side.'
- D. C.

'I had known [my attorney] for over 15 years and in that time I have recommended him too many friends for the careful and complete representation he provides while also providing the human understanding we all need during these trying times. He is not afraid to tell you both the positives and the negatives of any actions; he is completely familiar with all of the issues I have faced from divorce, to custody and support issues. I greatly appreciate that he has also provided representation for my disabled son, when it was needed. I will continue to recommend him to others and I wish him well in all future endeavors. '
- J. D.

'I was a mother of three boys and getting divorced. I really didn’t know what to do, where to start or anything about divorce for that matter. [My attorney] and his assistant guided me, gave me options and choices. They educated me on laws and rights I had no idea about. Without them I don’t know where my children and I would be. Thanks to them I am divorced, happy and secure.'
- M. B.

'I have retained [Steven Mevorah & Associates] services on several occasions with regards to divorce proceedings and subsequent follow up court matters in this regard. I appreciated the updates on where the court matters were at and was never left hanging, wondering what was going on. [Their] court demeanor is professional. [Their attorney’s] are willing to listen to you and act accordingly.'
- D. L.

'My most recent need of Steve Mevorah & Associates was a case involving an order of protection. [My attorney] did a wonderful job of preparation. We were in contact often discussing all aspects of the facts pertaining to my case. I was very impressed with the meeting [we had], a day or two before the court date. We went step-by-step through what was going to happen, and we role-played prosecutor/defendant. I was prepared 100% for my court date. Needless to say, the Order was squelched, and as [my attorney] mentioned, good may come of it. I am now talking with my ex-wife about visitation with my kids. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all!!'
- R. N.

'We wanted to thank you for all your help. Your support helped us get through a difficult time and we really appreciate it.'
- P. B. & S. B.
