Landlord/Tenant. 2009 – Stevem Mevorah & Associates successfully represented a landlord in an eviction matter. The client had a contract where the tenant was renting with option to buy. When the housing market crashed the tenant quit paying on the contract and refused to leave the residence. A lawsuit was filed on behalf of the landlord/owner. The tenants were evicted and held liable for $10,000.00 in damages to the property and back payments.

Civil Litigation. Our attorney successfully defended a client accused of embezzling over $300,000. It was The attorney’s careful and meticulous examination of hundreds of exhibits and potential witnesses, including a few surprise witnesses during the week of trial that led to his success. After a trial, the Court entered an order against the Plaintiff and in favor of our client, on all counts.

Civil Litigation. On the commercial side, our attorney successfully appealed a judge’s decision that prevented five piano dealers from going after key agents of a sixth dealer for violations of retail advertising regulations. The defendant piano company had filed for bankruptcy, but the plaintiffs and litigation team gathered evidence that would allow them to pierce the corporate veil to add individual players as defendants. Our attorney prepared legal memoranda that balanced the complex factual background, litigation history, and relevant law with a straightforward explanation of how the judge abused her discretion. The Appellate Court agreed, giving the plaintiffs more litigation options and a stronger position for settlement.
