Bus Crash Causes Thousands of Dollars in Damages, Two People Injured

Posted on January 14, 2013 in Personal Injury

Only two people were injured in an accident that had the potential to have been a tragedy with the possibility of fatalities. A CTA bus driver passed out while driving in the 2800 block of North Kedzie Avenue in Logan Square. Only the driver and a passenger on the bus were injured. According to a report on CBS Chicago, after the driver passed out, the bus crashed into 20 parked vehicles before smashing into a laundromat, taking down its sign. The vehicle finally stopped after slamming into the laundromat's brick wall. A witness who lives near the scene described the accident scene "It was like chaos everywhere. All these cars were waiting for the lights, and then everybody was out checking to see if everybody was OK, if anybody got hurt," said Edwin Torres. Torres also said that the bus driver was administered oxygen at the scene by paramedics. According to the CTA, only the driver and one passenger on the bus were injured. The CTA says the driver was hospitalized in stable condition. They didn't immediately know the condition of the injured passenger. A tow truck operator at the scene estimated the damage for just the vehicles at $250,000. The passenger who was injured may be entitled to civil damages for the injuries sustained in this crash. Pain and suffering, medical and rehab expenses, loss of work, are just some of the costs this injured victim may face. If you or a family member has been injured in an accident caused by another person, consult with an experienced personal injury attorney in DuPage County to find out what compensation you may be entitled to.
