Posted on August 29, 2012 in Personal Injury

In Janesville, WI a 64-year-old Chicago man was killed in a two car crash on the night of Saturday August, 18th. The car he was in was travelling through the intersection of Highway 11 and Highway B around 10:30 pm. That was where a white Chevy Impala ran into the side of a silver Kia Optima after allegedly running a stop sign. When authorities reached the crash scene, they pronounced James M. Menard dead. They also saw the Chevy Impala on fire in the middle of the intersection. Inside that car was 39-year-old Tara Carlson who lives in Janesville. Once the police officers removed her from her car, she was airlifted to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison by medical helicopter. Three other people were hurt during the car accident. They were all in the Kia Optima that was hit by the Chevy Impala. Driver Randall Owens, 64, and his wife, Ellen Owens, 56, both of Footville, WI, and Ruth Coyle, 57, of Chicago were all injured in the accident. Their wounds were treated at Mercy Hospital in Janesville where they were later released. The Janesville police department is still investigating and recreating the accident. They have concluded that the cause of this accident is due to alcohol. Carlson was charged with one count of DUI causing death and three counts of DUI causing injury. Another car accident in Janesville left two dead on Sunday morning also due to drinking and driving.
