NFL Player Suffers Devastating Loss

Posted on February 28, 2013 in Personal Injury

This year's Super Bowl was full of excitement and action and even a couple of mishaps. Some fans were happy with the outcome, some were feeling blue and many fans can't wait to see the next season start. However, according to a story reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, Delanie Walker's Super Bowl memories will be forever marred. Delanie Walker is a tight end with the San Francisco 49ers. After playing a great game but ultimately suffering a loss on the field, he went on to experience a fatal loss several hours later. His aunt and uncle traveled to New Orleans to see him play. They left shortly after the conclusion of the game. Their 2012 Nissan Altima was pulled over on the shoulder of I-10 in LaPlace when they were struck from behind. The driver of the 2002 Mercedes reportedly struck to back of the Young's vehicle with such force that both vehicles caught fire. The driver, Nechole Thomas, was able to escape her vehicle with minor injuries while the Youngs were not found in the car until the fires were put out. Thomas is being held in lieu of a $300,000 bond. She was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide since she was deemed to be intoxicated at the time of the incident, reckless driving as well as drunken driving. At this time there has not been a disclosure as to if she has a history of driving under the influence. If you or a loved one have suffered loss or injury because of someone's carelessness and irresponsibility behind the wheel, you may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit to recoup some of the financial losses that you have experienced. In order to properly assess your case, you will need to seek the counsel of an experienced Illinois personal injury lawyer.
