Officer Injured while Responding to Shooting Incident

Posted on October 08, 2012 in Personal Injury

Just after midnight on Saturday September 29th, officers were called to a party in Montgomery after being notified about a shooting. The party was occurring at a house near the 700 block of Oakton Ave. The gunshots cleared the party initially and in the confusion, a police car was hit by a car driven by an inebriated party-goer . The police are still investigating the identity of the shooter after finding a .45-calibur handgun in a Dodge pickup at the scene. The driver behind the wheel was arrested and identified as Kendall J. Collier, of the 100 block of Linden Drive in Oswego. The 18-year-old ran his car into Montgomery Patrol Sergeant Adam Kuncl in his vehicle. The officer was taken to nearby hospital Rush Copley in Aurora to be treated for his serious injuries. He suffered many injuries including a skull fracture which required stitches and a broken scapula or shoulder blade. The police have released a statement that the officer is in stable condition. Collier was also injured in the accident. He apparently hit his head against the steering wheel of his car and was treated at the Provena Mercy medical center in Aurora. He has been subsequently charged with a felony aggravated driving under the influence. More charges are pending according to Montgomery police, probably due to Collier being underage. Fault can be assessed on any car accident which results in bodily harm. When one driver is accused of being intoxicated then they must be held accountable for the damage they cause. If the accident has caused you or a family member to miss work or anything else that infringes on your financial livelihood, then you have a legal right to compensation.
