Posted on July 27, 2013 in Personal Injury

According to My Fox Chicago, a shooting on the West Side of the city led to a police chase that ended tragically. A law enforcement official stated that the incident started with a shooting at about 11:30 p.m. on South Springfield Avenue. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. A while later, police officers spotted a car that matched the description of the vehicle connected to the shooter. Police attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver refused and a chase ensued. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed into a CTA bus and two other vehicles. There were nine people hospitalized because of the crash. A 35-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. The autopsy showed that she died because of the injuries that she sustained from the accident. There were four people listed in serious and critical condition, two in fair to serious condition and three were listed in good condition. The condition of the driver is unknown at this time. The accident is still being investigated by detectives. Being in a car accident can be traumatic, especially in circumstances such as the above. Even the most careful and responsible drivers can be injured because of the negligence of another driver. If you find yourself in this type of situation, an experienced accident attorney can assist you in suing for damages. You can sue for damage to personal property, medical bills, future medical care, as well as punitive damages. The attorney will assess your case and discuss the options with you. He will make a recommendation as to the amount of the suit. Your attorney will also do the necessary investigation to find pertinent information on the case. Once this is done he will make the demands on the plaintiff and their legal counsel.
