Two-Vehicle Crash Causes Injuries and Death

Posted on December 11, 2012 in Personal Injury

One man was killed and two were injured in a car crash on November 24 in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, according to the chtribune. The crash took place early in the morning on the 3500 block of West Division Street. The driver, Ivan Miranda, 24, and his severely injured brother were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where Miranda was pronounced dead about 40 minutes later. An autopsy found that Miranda had died from multiple injuries from an automobile striking an automobile and his death was ruled an accident. The driver of the other car left his vehicle at the scene after the crash before running away. Police have been trying to locate the driver, who may have been drunk while driving the SUV. A passenger of the SUV remained behind and was taken to a hospital to be treated. There was also a third vehicle whose driver may have witnessed the fatal hit-and-run, and police have attempted to reach the witness. Miranda's family made a plea for the hit-and-run driver to come forward. "Just step up, man," said the victim's brother, Alexis Miranda. "Accept the responsibility. You took somebody's life away, and it's not fair. Somebody has to pay for it." The scene of the crash has become a memorial to Ivan Miranda. "He left back a lot of memories. He was a very loving person," said Alexis Miranda.
